Changes in the methods of illegal forced entry, used by would be intruders to gain access through attacking the euro profile cylinder, fitted into many doors, have resulted in the development of a new standard, and a revision to PAS 24.

Applicable to new door sets, PAS 24 is due to amended to include additional tools available to test engineers, making the A.11 attack test even more onerous.

Additionally, in recognition of the number of door sets, currently in existence that have been produced without compliance to any security standards, the hardware industry is responding through the development of TS007.  Based on the test methods of the forthcoming PAS 24 A.11, TS 007 sets performance requirements for cylinders, and associated security hardware, to provide a suitable vehicle for the certification of products, that can demonstrate that they provide a high level of resistance to all known forms of lock cylinder attack.

This new standard has been jointly developed by the Door and Hardware Federation and the Glass and Glazing Federation, following an industry consultation process, and is based on performance, rather than prescriptive requirements, ensuring consumers have the widest choice of certified options available.
